A premier took place on the grounds of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from 29 September until 1 October 2006. The leading European trade fair for golf, Golf Europe, and the specialist congress for golf course construction, Fairway, were held together for the first time. The holding of the two trade fairs together created the largest business platform for golf in Europe. A total of approximately 6,300 visitors were recorded, whereby approx. 5,000 (2005: 6,061) registered for Golf Europe and 1,300 (2005: 2,548) for Fairway.

The visitor figures of Golf Europe declined slightly compared to the previous year due to the one-time change of the trade fair schedule, which was due to the scheduling of the Ryder Cup on one hand and on the other hand due to a large trade fair on the grounds of the New Munich Trade Centre, but above all due to the not holding of the ¡°PGA Teaching & Coaching Conference¡± parallel in Munich, which attracted more than 1,000 golf pros to Munich in 2005.

With visitors from more than 50 countries and a foreign share of almost 60%, the international character of the fair could be expanded further. In addition to the traditional golf pro visitor country of Great Britain, a lot of visitors were recorded especially from Austria, Italy and Eastern Europe.

The next Golf Europe will take place on the grounds of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from 7 to 9 October 2007. Manfred Wutzlhofer, Chief Executive Officer of Messe München GmbH, stated: ¡°Despite a decrease in the number of visitors for the reasons cited, we want to continue the joint platform. Golf Europe and Fairway together create a unique competence center for golf business in Europe, and we want to continue working on its concept and expand the range of topics further. In 2007, we will again have the regular schedule of Sunday to Tuesday and consequently substantially improved prerequisites for all participants from the start. This will especially simplify trade fair participation for greenkeepers with respect to Fairway. We are going to work out details in collaboration with the industry, retailers and associations as well as representatives in the trade advisory boards over the coming weeks.¡±

In addition to the product presentations of the 301 (2005: 314) Golf Europe exhibitors and the 91 (2005: 113) Fairway exhibitors, the organizers again arranged for a comprehensive supporting program and events dealing with actual practice. Trick-shot specialist Paul Barrington provided entertaining shows on the indoor putting green, and the large indoor driving range with 15 tee-boxes provided all trade fair participants with optimum space for tests in actual practice.

The professional and topical Golf Europe seminar program, which the organizers again designed in collaboration with the PGAs of Europe, dealt with the connection between customer loyalty and the success of a pro shop as well as the maximizing the revenue of a golf facility, among other things. The seminars had a lot of visitors as did the Fairway Congress with the FEGGA (Federation of European Golf Greenkeepers Association) Machine Workshop and the symposium of the DGV, Deutscher Golf Verband, ¡°Marketing and Sales for Golf Facilities¡±. In addition, Ken Schofield, head of the PGA European Tour for many years, was honored with the 4th Golf Europe Legend Award for his contributions to golf.
